Problem of exhibition Ballet Royal: arithmetics ideal is attempt to return on the one hand to sources of the phenomenon «classical ballet» — to Royal ballet (Ballet Royal). And also to reveal metaphysical beauty of classical ballet and a ballet body which are hidden in a reality of literary plots, historical styles, suits and scenery of ballet theatre.
The exhibition shows the general, that already more than 350 years the French ballet of times of the Lui XIV (Ballet Royal) connects among themselves, Russian classical ballet (ballet dancers of Mariinsky theatre took part in shooting), and also such radical forms of modern ballet theatre, as William Forsytes choreography.
In exhibition are presented unique book curiosities from the Department of the rare book of the Petersburg state theatrical library — textbooks of dance XVI — the beginnings of XIX centuries.
